YTV
I wrote and produced kids interstitials at YTV until 2003.
I came in initially to produce/revamp the already exisiting "Snit Station". We're talking a girl and a robot,
in space, between Saturday and Sunday morning cartoons. I'm very proud of the comedy we made on this project.
My recent project, Vortex, is quite different, with a stronger web presence, including a bronze-level game. |
CBC
I spent a year at CBC writing, producing, and directing "CBC Playground".
The interesting thing about this project was working in an ORAD virtual studio environment,
as well as working with a puppet in a dramatic format. The writing for CBC Playground was "curriculum based" and
developed with a team of educational consultants. Our team was also responsible for admin of our own webspace. |
TFO
TFO was very, very good to me! It was at TFO that I was first given the opportunity to
studio direct live programming, direct a 5 city, week-long mobile production with musical performances, do
provincial election coverage: all the things a current affairs director could hope for. I was also coordinating director for 2 seasons on a fantastic
film newsmagazine called "Cinecure", which involved lots of travelling to film festivals and meeting extremely interesting film actors, producers, and directors.

Nickelodeon
I hosted and performed in a few different series for Nick, over a
period of 10 years between 1978 and 1988, most notably "You Can't Do That on Television", "Whatever Turns You On",
and "Turkey TV". You Can't began as a local, largely live show in Ottawa (we would do things like live mobiles from the
walkathon, and stage "disco dance" contests!) but became really successful when Nickelodeon picked it up. The program also aired on YTV
for many years. Whatever Turns You On was a single season spin-off that had Ruth Buzzi playing the role of "mom" and 'local' bands like
Max Webster performing in studio. |
